SCENES FROM THE 20TH ANNUAL ABBOT KINNEY FESTIVAL

Sept. 20 saw perhaps the largest Abbot Kinney Blvd. festival yet, with as many as 60,000 people attending.
Above, Rick Mejia, Jessie Borrego and Danny Trejo received awards from the Abbot Kinney District Association for their community service.

Festival organizers responded to complaints last years from local organization that were put on side streets. This year they were mixed in with for-profit booths along the boulevard.

Music on two stages included notable local bands including Nova Blue, Sugar B*tch, Zoo People and Billy Preston. A youth court stage included dance, cultural performances from Mexico, Indonesia, India, and Hawaii, a 20-minute version of the Wizard of Oz by Eric Vollmer, and a Go Green Power Girl show about the environment..
