Venice Step Team

Coach Benson and her
daughter Trina have volunteered their choreographic talents and services since
2001. Trina created this dance group as an alternative to cheerleading offered
at Venice High School.
Their program is a year round activity and
has successfully kept as many as 22 of Venice’s youth busy. It’s
offered as a 6th period class for Physical Education and class credits are
earned! The Step Team’s first year celebrated 3 Venice High graduates
that are college bound and continuing their education.
Venice StepTeam have performed at the
L.A. Watt’s Summer Games, the Sharp Competition, L.A.C.E.S, and regularily
the Venice High School football games. The Step Team is supported and pledged to
sorority/fraternity: Sigma Lambda, the Sky’s the Limit.
“The direction and the future
for this organization,” Coach Benson hopes, “is to include travel.
I’d like to see our kids travel to other competitions besides L.A. The
Crenshaw Team travels to Africa to
perform.”
We need to begin the New Year
with hope for the youth of Venice. We need to support organizations and
acitivities like the Venice Step Team.
