Venice Against the War


On the morning of Oct. 30, about 50 Venetians turned out to picket an appearance by Venice resident and member of Congress, Jane Harman.

The event was a breakfast meeting of the Chamber of Commerce held at the Abbot Kinney Library. Venetians were incensed by Harman’s support of George Bush’s resolution, which passed Congress, to approve a unilateral invasion of Iraq. A source in Harman’s office told us that nearly 500 Venetians had written, emailed or called urging Harman not to vote for the resolution. Harman’s response as she was about to enter the Library was that her vote required U.N. approval! Wrong, Jane. (See Connect the Dots on page two)
